We tell you how to choose and successfully fit a corner sofa into the interior of a room of any size.
In any apartment, one way or another, there is a soft zone. This could be a separate living room or a small corner in the studio - but in any case, a place to relax needs to be organized. An excellent solution for modern apartments (especially small ones) is a corner sofa. we'll also tell you how to choose the right model and fit it into the interior.
A corner sofa is a good solution for a living room of any size. There are large models for spacious rooms, and very tiny ones for small apartments. The advantage is that this is a functional solution. Almost all manufacturers offer sofa beds: these are book, eurobook, dolphin and other folding mechanisms. And, if in large apartments this is not so important, then in small ones, where there are no extra beds, it is very important. In addition, most of these models provide drawers for storing things, and there are also, for example, corner sofas with shelves. This is also important in small-sized vehicles, which are characterized by problems with storage systems.
From an ergonomic point of view, this is also an excellent option. Like Tetris, the L-shaped model can be placed in different ways in the room: near the window, in the center, and against the wall. And if necessary, rearrange and thereby completely change the layout. Many designers use such furniture to zone space in living rooms combined with a kitchen.
By design:
Cabinet models are the models we are familiar with, consisting of a solid frame. They can be made to order or sold ready-made. The main feature is the finished structure, which cannot be divided into parts, transformed, etc.
Modular is the opposite option. Modular systems are now very popular both due to their modern design and due to their mobility and functionality. The essence is simple: you assemble the product according to the principle of a designer, including only those modules that you need. These are not only the seats themselves, but also storage systems, armrests, poufs, folding sections, etc.
By form:
L-shaped is a classic corner model, the two sides of which meet at right angles. They come in different designs, sizes, with or without a folding mechanism.
U-shaped ones are almost the same, but there are three sections, not two. The corner ones are located parallel on both sides of the base. Such a product can fit into a small room exactly in size or be placed in the center, thus designating a relaxation area.
C-shaped - in this design the most important element (the angle as such) is missing, but they can also be included in the classification. Nowadays, rounded shapes are in trend, so more and more manufacturers are offering smoother and more current alternatives to the usual L-shaped products.
To size:
Two sections are the most compact option, which is suitable for a tiny room, studio or kitchen-living room, where a minimum of space is allocated for a recreation area.
Three sections are medium size; such models are most often chosen for a standard apartment.
Four or more sections are already dimensional furniture, often modular or custom-made, with various sections and additional 'chips'. Suitable for spacious living rooms and lounge areas where many guests gather at once.
What materials should you pay attention to:
Velvet is a great idea for neoclassical interiors with modern touches. The upholstery is good in bright colors: turquoise, fuchsia, lemon and so on.
Eco-leather - if you love the texture of leather and the effect that such furniture creates, of course, you can stay true to the classics. But for a corner sofa in a modern style, you can consider an analogue - a high-quality synthetic substitute, which in some characteristics even surpasses natural material.
As an alternative to brutal styles, you can consider suede or nubuck. Choose dusty natural tones; this upholstery looks very stylish.
Linen and cotton are universal materials for any design. They are for any style: Scandinavian, minimalism, eclecticism. The color can be any, but a basic natural palette will best highlight natural fabrics.
The sofa will be complemented by decorative pillows and a blanket. They can be contrasting or neutral, differ by a couple of shades. Their number depends on the size of the furniture: the larger it is, the more pillows and blankets you can use. But remember that it is better not to decorate large three-seater models lavishly.
